GOLF is conducted under
the R&A Rules and the Standing Rules displayed on the club
notice board.
The Course
Fairways are defined by oiled
lines, the lines being an integral part of the fairway.
The following are
integral parts of the course and NO relief is permitted except
under penalty (Rule 24 Def.c):
Cold patched, oiled, and other man made surfaces within the
fairway in play.
Bunker ropes and fastenings.
Watering wells,
constructed around trees or shrubs, staked trees, and exposed
irrigation system are Ground Under Repair (GUR) Play prohibited
(Rule 25-1)
Practice is allowed on
the practice areas to the left of the first tee, and to the
right of the 10th tee and fairway, on any day of a
stroke play competition (Rule 33-2c)
Preferred Lies
A ball lying on the fairway of the
hole in play may without penalty, be marked, lifted, cleaned,
and placed within six inches of where it originally lay, but not
nearer the hole.
If using a committee
approved round mat, the mat must be placed before lifting the
ball. Once the ball has been lifted, the mat must not be
purposefully moved. The ball must be placed, not nearer than
two inches from the edge of the mat. If the ball is
accidentally moved while placing the mat, or after being placed
but before making a stroke, the ball may be replaced without
penalty.
If a placed ball will
not remain at rest, mark original position and proceed with Rule
20-3d(i).
Hazards
Bunkers are sand filled
depressions within the fairway, cold patched or oiled ground
bordering a bunker is not part of the bunker.
Water hazards on the 7th and 17th holes
are defined as depressions indicated by yellow posts. A ball
lying in or touching a water hazard must, under penalty of one
stroke, be lifted and dropped in the ‘drop zone’ provided.
Putting Greens
The line of a putt must not be touched other than in accordance
with items (ii) to (vii) of Rule 16-1a, or for the following
reasons:-
- to move loose
impediments or embedded stones, and to repair any
irregularity caused by them or their removal. Note: sand is
not a loose impediment.
- To repair
footprints, ball tracks, or marks made by the flagstick.
In these cases the player may smooth the putting surface by
using the putter head lightly across the line of the putt.
Continuous or excessive smoothing is not allowed, and where
such smoothing is required the brush provided must be used.
If a ball moves after being replaced on the putting green
and before a stroke is made, it must be replaced without
penalty.
Should the backward movement of the player’s club in playing
as stroke on the putting green be restricted, the ball may
be lifted and placed at the nearest point of relief on the
putting green, not nearer the hole.
Power Poles and Overhead
Wires
Should the ball strike a power
pole or overhead wire whilst playing the 7th, 9th,
10th, or 18th, another ball must be played
without penalty. The previous ball is out of play and the
previous stroke does not count.

of of the practice range, defined by black and white posts.

the left of the 5th, to the right 7th, 9th,
